New NCAA rules are drastically changing college sports!  Let's break down some of the changes.

College Football Technology

The NCAA now allows helmet communications for FBS teams and the use of tablets to view game footage.

FBS teams now have the opportunity to use in-game player-to-coach helmet communication. Only one player will be in communication with the coach via an in-helmet headset. The player with the headset will be identified by a green dot on their helmet.  Communication is stopped when the ball is snapped or when the play clock hits 15 seconds (whichever happens first). This technological advancement is already used in the NFL, so it's great practice for players (mainly quarterbacks) who are going to play at the next level.

All divisions have the opportunity to use tablets to view in-game video. The video is limited to broadcasting feeds, views from the coach's sideline, and endzone. The tablets cannot be used as a source of communication, connect to other devices, or display data/analytics. Teams can utilize up to 18 tablets.

All technology changes are hitting the field this upcoming season! Be on the lookout for the green dot on the helmet and sideline tablets.

NIL School Rule Change

The NCAA is giving schools some power back. Schools can now provide additional NIL assistance to athletes including finding and facilitating NIL deals. Athletes don't have to accept the assistance, but it is available for athletes whose deals are over $600 and are reported to the school within 30 days of receiving or signing the deal.

Transfer Policy Update

Athletes can now transfer and have immediate eligibility at their new school. To be eligible for this new transfer policy, athletes must have left their previous school in good academic standing, be making progress towards their degree before competing at the new school, and have a valid degree (if they are graduate transfers).
